The World After Autumn could conceivably be seen as a follow up to the 'Simple Ghosts & Lazy Old Bones' album I was involved in the other year. Like that album this one is predominantly (but certainly not exclusively) acoustic with sounds sourced around the area. For this album I made use of field recordings made in my garden and on one of the local beaches (I forget which), some stringed instruments, some tined and a basket of percussion instruments that was lying around the studio along with elements of the room itself - the bass thrum on 'The Daughter of the Sea and Me' is a broken radiator vent.
The front cover image is of an old derelict Salt House near Port Eynon on The Gower. The beach behind it is one of my favourite places to sit and read and listen to the tolling of the buoy just off the headland.
